It Started With a Rummage Sale…
Nearly 80 years later, Guild B is still finding ways to make healthcare better in the Lake Chelan Valley.
Guild B has been supporting healthcare in the Lake Chelan Valley since 1947.
Before MyChart. Before modern medical equipment. Before the hospital we know today.
There was Guild B.
It was 1947, and a group of local women came together with a big idea: help support healthcare right here at home. The original Lake Chelan Community Hospital hadn't even opened yet.
Then, in 1948, Guild B held one of its first fundraisers.
A rummage sale.
No online tickets. No QR codes. No fancy event planning. Just neighbors donating things, volunteers rolling up their sleeves and a community willing to help.
And it worked.
From Rummage Sales to Home Tours

That first fundraiser started something pretty special.
As Chelan grew, Guild B grew with it. Members kept finding new and creative ways to bring people together and raise money for local healthcare.
There were Home Tours and Art Shows, where people could peek inside beautiful Chelan-area homes while supporting a good cause. There was Lights of Love, which gave families a special way to honor or remember someone they loved.
And, of course, there have been luncheons, community gatherings, sponsorships, wine pulls and some very competitive Dessert Dashes.
Because apparently putting a fabulous dessert on a table can bring out everyone's competitive side!
But behind all the fun has always been a serious purpose:
The money goes back into healthcare in our community.
So, What Did Guild B Help Buy?
Over the years, Guild B fundraising has helped provide medical equipment and technology used to care for patients right here in the Lake Chelan Valley.
Patient monitors.
Cardiac equipment.
Diagnostic technology.
Mammography equipment.
Bladder scanning equipment.
And many other needs along the way.
Some projects have been large. Others have filled one very specific need.
One especially meaningful project came with the new hospital. Guild B became the first organization to fund a room in the new facility, helping create a Post-Partum Family Room where parents and their newborn could spend those important first days together.
Guild B has supported families in smaller, more personal ways too—including the longtime tradition of recognizing the hospital's first baby of the New Year.

Big or small, every project has had the same goal: make healthcare in our valley a little better than it was before.
A Lot Has Changed Since 1947
Imagine explaining MyChart to the women at that first rummage sale.
A medical record on your phone?
Test results you can check from home?
Messages sent directly to your healthcare team?
They probably wouldn't believe us.
But we think they would understand exactly why Guild B is helping.
In 2026, Guild B is supporting Lake Chelan Health's implementation of MyChart by Epic, helping bring patients and providers better access to the information they need.
The technology may be new.
The mission isn't.
And We're Not Finished
Guild B's story isn't really about rummage sales, home tours, luncheons or even medical equipment.
It's about people.
It's about generations of volunteers who believed that a strong community takes care of its own. It's about local businesses that said, “We'll help.”
It's about people who bought tickets, sponsored tables, donated desserts, opened their homes, gave money, volunteered their time—and showed up year after year.
Almost 80 years after that first group came together, Guild B is still here.
Still gathering. Still giving.
Still having a little fun along the way.
And still believing that great healthcare
close to home is worth supporting.
